Snow Covered Mountain Under Cloudy Sky

Profit, People, Planet

Everyone’s solving for X. We choose to Solve for Why.

In Mathematics, we often get problem statements asking us to solve for X. All other problem conditions are usually known. One just needs to find a straight, objective answer: X. Every day, Businesses are solving for such objective answers: Sales, Volumes, Profit, Cashflow, Headcount, Overheads, Shareholder returns and so on. These are obviously good problems.

In solving for these X’s, it is easy to forget the Why’s: the not-so-straightforward, often counter-intuitive solutions to some of world’s most pressing problems. Climate change, forgotten communities, corruption by middle-men, exploitation of the vulnerable, dysfunctional families, unproductive youth, fast-paced unhealthy lifestyles - to name a few.

We believe it is possible to solve for X and Why. Profit can co-exist with Purpose. So, we are building businesses whose profits seek to solve for one or more of these Why’s.

At Solve for Why group, we are building some of the world’s most authentic brands. And in the process, re-imagining capitalism.
